Due to the ongoing pandemic, the 12th Annual Tamil Canadian Walk will be Virtual and Global. You can participate and support form wherever you are and choose your own activity and route.

 Join us virtually on Saturday, September 19th: 9 am, as we hit the sidewalks and trails in support of Food Security and Economic Empowerment of Tamil families living in war-affected regions of Sri Lanka. 
 
All donations for this Walk will go towards the Home Food Garden (Micro Agriculture – Food Security) project and the Thennamarawady Farm project currently implemented by the NEED Centre in Sri Lanka. (www.needcentre.org)

BACKGROUND

Since 2009, Tamil Canadian walk has raised over $500,000 for deserving charities in Canada and around the world- Sick Kids Foundation (2009),Canadian Cancer Society (2010), Amnesty International (2011),Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (2012). Holland Bloorview Foundation (2013), Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation (2014), Sampur Resettlement (2015), Canada Batticaloa Friendship Farm (2016), Thennamarawady Re-settlement (2017), Northern Province Palliative Care Initiative (2018) and Toronto Tamil Chair (2019).

The 2020 recipient is no exception to this amazing network of charities and causes. This year, Tamil Canadians join Tamil walkers globally and will be fundraising for
the Food Security and Economic Empowerment for the war affected regions of Sri Lanka.

This initiative has the power to transform the lives of thousands of families in the war-affected Northern and Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka. Walkers globally will be raising funds this year to improve the livelihood of people by contributing to their food security and economic empowerment.
